Subdivisions

The free metronome offers compatible quarter-note, eighth-note, triplet, and sixteenth-note subdivisions. The notation shows how the selected rhythm fits inside the bar.

Why is a choice unavailable?

Subdivision choices depend on the selected meter and pulse. An incompatible choice is unavailable so the rhythm still fills the bar correctly.

Accents in the free metronome

Use accents to shape the pulse while keeping a consistent subdivision. The downbeat and group starts provide the meter’s underlying hierarchy.

Pro: edit each beat independently

Pro lets you mix beat divisions within a bar, add accents and articulations, and turn individual notes into rests. Advanced tuplets include quintuplets, sextuplets, and septuplets. Open a beat’s rhythm editor to work on that part of the bar.

Pro: keep the rhythm in a plan

Save structured practice plans with sections that have their own bar counts, tempo, meter, subdivisions, and articulations. Use optional section count-ins to prepare for each entrance.
